Anyone who has ever entered the gym or does some kind of physical activity to keep him/herself fit has heard of this that “winter is for bulking & summer for cutting”.

Sorry to those who believe in this myth.

Well!! there is some logic behind winter bulking but no science or proven fact.

It’s just that in winter it’s cold out there and cold in here. You and your blanket have the best relationship. In winter staying in is what we all like & days keep getting shorter and nights keep getting longer.

Let’s just talk about…

Why someone considers winter bulking

In winter you indulge in lesser physical activities compared to summer and thus burn fewer calories compared.

Boom!!! you have achieved bulk aka fat. Some studies shows that in winter, testosterone level naturally declines and estrogen level elevate slightly. that makes easier for our body to add fat and muscle.

It’s just winter that helps you get Bulk because of the festive season & all the eating. Stepping outside of your house comes close to minimal.

In winter you are covered from top to bottom. Wearing a jacket, tracks, and whatnot. Those abs get hidden like a treasure only noticeable features are chest, arm & legs. So most people take advantage of this time and switch to gaining.

Recovery in winter is better because of the long night and long sleep. fewer chances of you doing cardio because stepping out is tough.

So overall it’s good time to increase your mass & strength.

Bulking is of two types

1. Clean Bulking

In this calorie intake is controlled and maintained by the person according to their own goal. Calorie intake is increased up to eating 200-400 calories more than usual.

This method is used by most athletes and people in the fitness, Modelling industry because they can’t afford to gain too much weight and everyone know losing weight is not as easy as gaining weight.

2. Dirty Bulking

Easiest bulking process but then losing that bulk is hard. In this, you go calorie surplus by eating whatever you want and whenever you want to eat it’s like all the restriction is removed you are free.

In my opinion, A Clean bulking diet is the right approach rather than choosing dirty bulking because you’ll be left with all the unwanted fat that you won by choosing dirty bulking.

In terms of calories, add 100-200 calories more into your maintained diet and if you’re not gaining from it then increase calories intake.

Now the real question

Is winter bulking season & summer for cutting

It’s a myth that winter is specifically for bulking & summer for cutting. It all comes down to your personal choice. If you want to bulk in summer or cut in winter do as you wish.

There is no science behind a season helping you in your fitness goal.

Look at your goal

Before making a decision think about what’s your goal. Don’t do it because you’re into recreational fitness.

Don’t go around following bodybuilder routine because you’re not a bodybuilder and you don’t share the same workout routine neither your diet plan and of course, body builder are on enhancement like steroids and you aren’t. Steroids play important role in manipulating genetics and how will your body react to workout routine.

You can Bulk anytime you want

Remember it’s not an easy task to winter bulking and cut in summer. People start cutting in summer cause of beach and pool and music festivals.

The time gap between these season is not much that you can bulk and then start cutting in a 1-2 months and reach your goal. You can be eating 1900 calories in winter and 3000 calories in summer, in simple words, when you want to get rid of that fat just keep sure to burn more calories than you intake & if you want to gain some weight do the opposite more intake less burning, season has nothing to do with it.

So keep in mind summer body will be made in winter. If you’re going to do winter bulking you’re going to have a bulk body in summer, simple as that.

By having the correct information about bulk & cut you’ll know no season will help you only calorie intake plays an important role.
